After Labor day, Schroon Lake and the Adirondack Mountains come
alive with a burst of color. All the outdoor activities you have
enjoyed in the summer are embellished in the Fall. Hiking
through the woods when the fall color is out is truly
intoxicating. Whether you reach the top of a peak, or just
touring the area, you will see the true fall beauty of the
Adirondacks. September of each year the
Adirondack Marathon is held. This USA Track and Field
certified marathon is probably the most beautiful 26 miles, 385
yards you’ll ever run." This marathon starts in the village,
proceeds north and goes around the lake and ends at the village
beach. The marathon is a regional event and is put together by
the towns of Schroon Lake, Pottersville, Chestertown, Horicon,
and many other surrounding communities.
Hunting is also a challenge in the Adirondack Mountains. You
can enjoy Bow hunting, Black Powder, and Rifle seasons. Hunting
is generally October to the first weekend in December. Our local
guide service can take you to all the great hunting spots. Local
sports stores can also help outfit you for the hunt. |
